Description

Under limited supervision, receives and disperses inter-company correspondence, general business mail and responsible for shipping and receiving. Applies necessary postage to outgoing business mail to conform to appropriate United States Postal Service rates and regulations. Receives very detailed instructions regarding the operation of automated mail processing equipment and the processing of customer billing. Troubleshoots mechanical problems, electrical problems, maintenance upkeep on all equipment, handles/processes highly confidential projects, payroll, shareholder checks, DRIP statements, accounts payable, 401 (k) catch-up, W-2’s, and makes necessary adjustments to achieve highest daily output production; provides technical assistance to other mail processing operators. Assists in other areas of the department to meet required deadlines. This position has no supervisory responsibility. - Sorts/categorizes mail in preparation for delivery -Prepares packages for mailing - Distributes mail and freight to company employees in a timely manner - Meters outgoing correspondence accurately to increase timeliness and efficiency of deliveries, and reducing costs of deliveries - Automated processing and sorting of mail.

 

Job Requirements

Skill/Experience/Education

Mandatory
The job requires a high school diploma or the equivalent, one year of demonstrated job experience in mail sorting/distribution/ processing, basic math, computer applications and communications. Experience with Bell & Howell Mail Star automated inserters, folders, Pitney-Bowes postage equipment, pallet jacks and strapping equipment is a plus. General knowledge of inventory or material control is preferred. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required: Prefer knowledge of UPS, Federal Express, and the United States Postal Service rules and regulations. Must have the ability to handle time schedules, prioritize tasks, match names/addresses for sorting purposes, and follow written and verbal instructions. Must have at least one year of demonstrated job experience using organizing, analyzing, and planning skills as well as skills in assertiveness, listening, cooperation, and sensitivity to others. Must be able to operate within short time frames, recognize consequences of erroneous actions and possible legal action against the company. Must be able to concentrate on tasks, visualize, respond quickly, process information in an accurate, orderly and timely manner, lift 70 lbs, push up to 1,500 lbs and other required functions. Must be highly motivated and a self-starter. Work is performed inside, warehouse environment, with some outside exposure. Must have a satisfactory work record including good attendance.

Must possess these skills:
Time Management: Able to operate within short time frames, recognize the consequences of erroneous actions and possible legal action against Company.

Communication: Demonstrated skills in assertiveness, listening, cooperation, and sensitivity to others.

Conflict Management: Experience in handling conflict, anger, judgement and decision making.

Physical skills: Lift up to 70 pounds, push up to 1,500 pounds and other required functions.
